Chris Brewster is co-founder and Executive Director of City Heights Runners.   He was the Head Track and Field and Cross Country Coach at Hoover High School (07’-21’), coaching numerous All-CIF San Diego Section athletes. Chris rejoined his long time partner Coach Venancio at Crawford High School as Co-Head Coach in Fall 2021.  He  has done multicultural youth development work for the last 25 years.  He holds an Endurance Specialist Certification from the U.S Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association.

Tlaloc Venancio is co-founder and co-Head Coach at Crawford High School. He immigrated to the U.S from Mexico City in elementary school. He used running to propel him to become an NAIA National Champion in the Marathon at Concordia University in Irvine. He and his wife Rachel are co-founders of the first City Heights Runners middle school program in 2012. He has been the Head Cross Country and Head Track & Field coach at Crawford High School since 2016, where he has led two different teams to the California State Meet. He is currently a Math teacher at the school.

Michael Dominguez is an Associate Professor of Chicana and Chicano Studies at San Diego State University, with a focus and specialization on youth and sports studies. A former collegiate athlete in track and cross county, as a coach, Dominguez has worked with numerous high school, collegiate, and post-collegiate athletes in individual and team contexts, and is a co-founder and co-director of several youth running camps. An educator for over 20 years, he has been with City Heights Runners and Crawford High since 2022
